Biopol is a biomedical and biotechnology cluster made up of healthcare institutions, knowledge-generating entities, research centres and companies from the life sciences and health sector located in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. It brings together reference hospitals like the Bellvitge University Hospital and the Catalan Institute of Oncology; leading research centres, such as the Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL), the campus of the University of Barcelona, the dental and podiatry clinics and the forthcoming incorporation of centres like the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the laboratories of Grupo Ferrer Internacional.
Mission
Biopol’H’s mission is to build a conceptual and territorial space which boost the creation, transference and disclosure of new knowledge in biomedicine and health sciences, which generate synergies between, healthcare, science education, business, and welfare.
Vision
Regarding Biomedicine and Health Sciences, Biopol’H wants to be a focus of reference in Southern Europe with a worldwide network of connections.
Biopol’H comes out as an initiative which tries to make the most of the potential synergies existing among the different institutions of one of the main health-care areas of Catalonia, so that we create a new environment where health, research, education, business, and welfare find a suitable space to develop their activity and initiate innovative projects in the sphere of biomedicine.
On this basis, Biopol’H claims to stimulate five very interrelated fields:
