2011 was an intense year for Spanish Science. In the middle of a wave of budget cuts and adjustments, Catalonia continues to get good results in the Impact Factor, in the implementation of projects, in receiving grants and enlarging the infrastructure. Currently Catalonia collects 29% of the European funds that go to the whole state to boost R & D, i.e. 2% of the total European subsidies.
