The Bioincubator of Biopol’H will be the workplace for the new UB postgraduate course, aimed at learning the impact of physical activity on senior people with a clearly social commitment. Students will attend 70% of the on-site content as practical classes, which is possible with the agreement between the Consortium Biopol’H and the City of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat that provides a free programme for seniors who are interested in learning some mechanisms and physical activities to improve their welfare.

In this postgraduate course – under the name of “Aging: functional capacity and improvement through physical activity (practical approach)” – students are supposed to take part in the assessment, planning and application of the physical activity programmes for elderly. This way, students can learn directly the relationship between physical activity and the old age on healthy conditions and in the most frequent diseases.

Professors of the Department of Physiological Sciences, the Department of Pathology and Experimental Therapeutics, the Department of Podiatry – all members of the University of Barcelona – and other organizations, like the University of Vic, are participating in this course. The postgraduate course, which will take place in the UB Campus of Bellvitge, is addressed to Bachelors of Physical Education, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Psychology or Social Work.
