A team of ICO-IDIBELL receives one of the three grants awarded by the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC)
The Scientific Foundation of the AECC grants periodically aids to stable and competitive groups that promote translational cancer research, i.e. the research aimed at improving the management of patients with cancer.
In the edition of 2010 three grant aids of 1.2 million each have been awarded in a period of five years. Gabriel Capellà - director of the Hereditary Cancer Program of the ICO - leads the team that signs the project "Hereditary cancer: towards an accurate estimate of risk," in which also professionals from different entities participate: the Cancer Prevention Program, the Medical Oncology Service of L'Hospitalet and the Institute of Predictive and Personalized Medicine of Cancer (IMPPC).
The other two grants awarded by the AECC have been for the National Center for Cancer Research (CNIO) and the Oncology Research Institute Vall d'Hebron (VHIO).
