On November 3rd Biopol’H will organize the BiomediCINE exhibition, in which films on Science and Biotechnology will be projected: a series of documentaries, short films and informative programmes that will try to bring biomedical and scientific research close to society. This video show on biomedicine – organized in collaboration with the Bellvitge University Hospital and the University of Barcelona – can be used as guidance for those who want to delve into the world of scientific documentary films and learn some of the basic premises to rigorously prepare their audiovisual pieces of work.
In this first edition the exhibition will show the documentary “Bicycle, spoon, apple” – which is about Alzheimer's and has the former president Pasqual Maragall as the protagonist – and “Aedes Aegypti: a threat for the tropic,” winner of VIDEOMED – the Science Film Festival of Badajoz – among others. You can also see segments of the educational programme “QuèQuiCom” and videos from many universities and schools of audiovisual studies. Likewise, there will be a round table to discuss on the most distinctive features of the production of such films. Besides, this round table can be followed live through Internet with a video streaming service.
The BiomediCINE exhibition aspires to be more than just a collection of projections though; the intention is to become a festival where, in a future, students and professionals can exhibit their audio-visual creations about scientific issues. The following categories may participate in the contest: Fiction, Documentary, Animation, Information Capsule, Demonstration of a technique and Didactics.
BiomediCINE takes place within the framework of Bioagora, a meeting for the generation of trust among the sectors of business, investment, economics and science. Its main objectives are to create networks for the various agents to facilitate knowledge transfer, place the tools for innovation at the disposal of future entrepreneurs and find a common language between concepts that are very distanced from each other.
