On November 4 Biopol’H hosted the first session of the workshop “Equal opportunities in the company,” organized by the platform fem.talent. This is a series of meetings aimed to explain the steps to follow when implementing effective equality policies in companies of the private sector. This first session, entitled “Equality plans in companies. Progress towards equality; improvement in innovation, efficiency and competitiveness,” has been about issues such as working hours, wages, the presence of each gender in the hierarchy of the company and family counselling.

The objective of these sessions, spread over November 4, 9, 15 and 17, is to step forward in the pursuit of a real application of the Law of Equality. The starting point is the firm belief that equality should not be a legal requirement but a moral principle that brings added value to companies, improving the working environment and increasing our competitiveness. To achieve this, it is essential to find what the problem is and begin to correct the present situation, using a diagnostic report to give us an objective view of quality in our company.

Moreover, a field study on the careers of the women workers in the Science and Technology Parks is also being carried out within the programme fem.talent. Coordinated by the Network of Science and Technology Parks of Catalonia (XPCAT), a group of professionals from different entities of Biopol’H met up on the same day to study in depth the analysis of challenges, possible strategies and the needs of women to develop their own career and get a better professional position.
