The MedLab Project will be present in the hospitals of Biopol’H from 2012 on. Collaboration between companies, La Salle and health professionals is essential in this enterprising project.

The first Edition of the MedLab Project, launched by La Salle, will finish in late November and from 2012 on it will be in the hospitals of Biopol’H. This project promotes entrepreneurship and innovation in a pioneering and blooming sector such as healthcare. The MedLab has been a meeting point for employers and health workers, brought together to find an answer to the professional needs of clinicians by coming up with new ways to improve equipment and medical services. From this meeting some ideas arose to get better beds and prevent falls as well as to design a tool to facilitate blood taking or prepare some technology device that allows remote monitoring of the constants of patients.

The second edition of MedLab will be running from January 2012, this is a new opportunity to define and give viability to those products and services that clinicians would like to have in their professional environment. It will also be the time for other hospitals to take part in it. The last quarter of 2010 it was a pilot project only involving one hospital, the Maternity Hospital San Juan de Dios. This year, after a laborious task of contacts between companies and hospitals, the first edition has been possible with the participation of the Maternity Hospital San Juan de Dios along with the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital and Plató Hospital. Each of these has made proposals until completing six areas of work and six projects. The sessions began last October 26 and will last until November 23.

MedLab is also an incentive to encourage companies in the ICT and material sectors, which have had no connection with the health sector so far, to join it by the hand of prescriptors and under the direction of an expert business school, which is a remarkable guarantee of success.
