Biopol'H idea competition ends phase of acceptance of projects with good results

18/07/2011

The first Health Innovation Competition of Biopol'H closed the period for the acceptance of projects with good participation by professionals and entrepreneurs from various organizations, many of them were members of the Consortium Biopol'H itself. Therefore, the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB) is the organization that submitted more proposals with a total of six, followed by the Catalan Institute of Oncology with three. Other received projects came from the Holistic Health Consortium (CSI), the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the Dental Clinic of the University of Barcelona and the Institute of Medical Assistance Services to Municipal Staff (PAMEM).

The projects are entering now the stage of preliminary evaluation carried out by a technical committee which will be made up of two members of the technical team of Biopol'H, two members of La Salle Technova of Barcelona and a renowned expert in the field of biomedicine. The members of this committee will be in charge of making a review and select the 10 best ideas.

The result of this process, which will last until ends of July, will be announced to all participants before September 15. It is then when all teams of the selected projects can access a short training programme that will take place between October and November.

The finalists will undergo evaluation of the jury, who will issue the final verdict for the three proposed categories in December - medical devices, procedures and processes for the healthcare, and business models. The winners will receive a certification along with a package of support for the implementation of the activity valued at 5,000 euros, a study of defense of the Intellectual Property of the idea or project and six months for Plug&Play in the Bioincubator of Biopol'H.
