11/05/2011

The Department of Intensive Care Medicine of the Moises Broggi Hospital in Sant Joan Despí has participated in a textbook of the European Society of Cardiology: The ESC Textbook of Intensive and Acute Cardiac Care. Dr Josep Masip, head of the Department of Intensive Care Medicine, and Dr Kenneth Planas have developed the chapter “Noninvasive ventilation”. The objective of this work is to supply an update reference guide on the Intensive Care in a Coronary Care Unit due to the growing complexity of the patients’ diseases.

The initiative came up from the de Acute Cardiac Care’s Working Group of the European Society of Cardiology with the aim of promoting education and training for cardiologists in the Cardiac Intensive Care Units. Dr Josep Masip is a member of this group since his training in 2004 and he takes part regularly moderating tables and conferences. The noninvasive ventilation is an issue of which Dr Masip has been a reference as a result of his publications and experience in the field.

The book has been published by Oxford University Press and Marco Tubaro as editor in chief.
