The 12th Science and Technology Conferences of secondary school in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat held their closing ceremony on June 7. During the event, the awards were given to the best research and innovation papers made by students of the secondary schools of this city. In this last edition, Biopol'H played an important role by including the Biopol’H award in the field of Health Sciences, endowed with a financial aid of 400€. The work of a group of students from the High School of Bellvitge entitled “Designing a system of intelligent insulin micro-injection” was chosen to receive this award from the Director of Biopol'H, Ramon López. He also gave the honourable mention in the study category to “Sport and heart: Influence of sport on the cardiovascular performance” by the students of the Tecla Sala School.
At the ceremony 18 more papers were selected out of the 79 that wish to be awarded in the categories of experimental, social, gender equality, expression and Agenda 21. The jury of the present event wanted to emphasize the high scientific level and quality of the experimental work. However, it complained about the lack of nominations from vocational training courses.
The event was attended by the mayoress Núria Marín, who took advantage to point out the real mission of the Conferences – encourage research and scientific creativity and promote experimentation and innovation in the secondary schools of the city. Marín also stressed the importance of providing opportunities for young people to continue their scientific vocation: "Those of you who want to devote yourselves to research in the future will find great opportunities in L'Hospitalet thanks to the transformation of the Economic District and Gran Via, and to the development of the Biopol'H project, in which the City of L'Hospitalet is involved too.”
Moreover, as relevant and committed to this future project as it is, Biopol'H wanted to present all participants with the chance of attending an entrepreneurship workshop that will be organized soon with the objective of supporting the scientific potential of tomorrow’s generation of researchers.
