Josep A. Planell - director of the foundation Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) – and Ramon Lopez Lozano - director of Consortium Biopol’H - have signed an agreement to strengthen the collaboration between both entities. The agreement establishes the intention to work together on national and international scientific research and technological innovation, especially on the field of nanomedicine. The aim is to promote the development of an excellence research and achieve an effective coordination as well as a better use of respective resources. With the development of the Special Plans Biopol'H Seaside and Biopol'H Mountainside, IBEC is expected to have its own research building inside Biopol'H area.
There are currently three research groups from IBEC working in Biopol'H area, two of them in collaboration with IDIBELL in the fields of Nanoprobes and Nanoswitches, Molecular and Cellular Neurobiotechnology The cooperation between IBEC and the Consortium is intended to be consolidated with the total integration of IBEC into Biopol'H area.
Institute of Bioengineering of Catalonia
IBEC is the only research center of the state driven by two public universities: the University of Barcelona and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. The Institute covers much of the fields of Bioengineering and Nanomedicine, from the most basic research to medical applications.
Consortium Biopol'H
Consortium Biopol'H is a biomedical and biotechnology cluster of health-care institutions, organizations that generate knowledge, research centers and companies of the sector of life and health sciences, all this together in a physical format made up of the Bellvitge Institute of Biomedical Research (IDIBELL), the Bellvitge University Hospital, the Catalan Oncology Institute (ICO) and the Bellvitge Health Sciences Campus, UB.
