The conferences have gathered the main players in the health sector to work all together.

The third edition of Bioagora – the meeting organized by the consortium Biopol’H to generate confidence among business, investment, economy and science – took place November 9 and 10 at the Hesperia Hotel Tower in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. This year the subject matter was expanded and the structure changed too, so that they added one more day of conferences in order to become a benchmark event in biomedicine.

Attendees were able to participate in the Bioàgora 2011 and enjoy a wide range of activities including panel discussions, debates, dialogues, workshops and areas of advice that revolved around the field of biomedicine and biotechnology.

The conferences were useful to frame entrepreneurship – understood as a way to generate knowledge and richness – in the new model of knowledge economy. In this context knowledge management has an outstanding importance when it comes to managing resources. We must promote and support the role of the entrepreneur but a sufficient critical mass should be drawn together so that the resulting work can be successful. A fertile soil needs to be created through education and the balanced participation of the relevant public institutions and the private sector of industry and investment. The speakers have repeatedly converged to designate it as “ecosystem”. This ideal space would enable the spontaneous emergence of personal entrepreneurial initiatives.

The culture change has reached the mentality of the entrepreneur as well, who must understand that the human capital is their maximum value, even beyond his own idea. The entrepreneur must be able to communicate, share their approach and detect the problem to give an answer. This is the only way their can be placed in the best position to attract funding and make the most of the economic capital they have been entrusted with.

According to this thinking, Bioagora has decided to promote contact and networking among the participants, intending to be a model of the synergies to be established in a scientific and business environment. The tools that Bioagora has made available to all the interested people – such as many workshops to improve communication, presentation video cards or expert advice for projects of entrepreneurs – are an example of the new open mentality of collaboration that must be cultivated.
