The mayoress of L’Hospitalet visited the Bioincubator in Biopol’H to get first hand information about the Barcino Project and see the robot that makes prosthesis coatings. Barcino, located in the Bioincubator I of Biopol’H, is an innovative programme that turns out to be a global challenge since it introduces new technologies for prosthesis coating that will permit in short the creation of new companies dedicated to produce these coatings.
Currently there is no technology in the market as developed as the one incorporated by Barcino and the prostheses obtained present no problems of rejection, they are much more economical, have better traits and performance and last longer than the conventional ones.
The industrialization of prosthesis coatings could be done in the Biopol'H Business Park in the future, whereas the innovation process and the prototypes will continue to be produced in the Bioincubator. Thus, the Bioincubator intends to be the seed of the Business Park. It is an open space for research groups of Biopol'H institutions and for other entrepreneurs.
The Business Park opens out from the City of Justice to the delta of Llobregat river. At this time it is made up of the corporations Gutmar, Werfen, Ferrer and VCN Biosciences, among others. The project wants to attract companies in the field of biomedicine and biotechnology and have them situated along Gran Via.
