12/04/2010

In the last economic commission representative of its governing council, the University of Barcelona approved the budgetary item for the construction of the first phase of the new teaching block of Bellvitge campus. The construction of this building will start in few days and it will be made up of five floors only used for theory and practical teaching of Health Science studies given in this campus. The teaching block will have a total of 18 new lecture rooms with several capacities, 17 seminar rooms and 14 laboratories for practices and microscopy rooms. It will double its space for teaching at the same time that it will improve significantly the working conditions for students, professors and researchers.

The building is due to be done in the summer of 2012. It will thus resume normal operation in the academic year 2012-2013, the first year in which the old Diplomas (now, EHEA degrees) will increase the number of groups by a 25%.
