The Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) was formally introduced to the entities forming part of Biopol’H on Monday, June 6 at the Bellvitge University Hospital. IBEC joins the synergies generated by Biopol’H and its member organizations, with which it will share the common goal of leading a project of research, innovation and entrepreneurship of worldwide reference in the fields of science and healthcare.
The presentation was opened by the director of Biopol’H, Ramón López, and the General Director of the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL), Emilià Pola. It was attended by over sixty people including heads of service of the Bellvitge University and many other outstanding personalities from the area. During the event, the director of the IBEC, Josep Antoni Planell, together with Josep Samitier, Alícia Casals and Antonio Raya, remarked the pioneering character of the Institute as regards technology related to medicine and nanomedicine, and its wish to assist and complement the scientific activity carried out by the various consortium members. All parties involved eventually agreed with the need to begin to develop joint courses of action for the near future in order to achieve the goals pursued by Biopol’H in research and innovation.
