The mayoress of L’Hospitalet, Núria Marín, presented the project “Biopol’H Transforms and provides Employment”, the objective of which is to promote innovation in the labour sphere and to improve the competitiveness of workers and companies, giving the greatest importance to knowledge and ideas.
The presentation took place at the Bioincubator I, located within the Biopol’H space. The mayoress of L’Hospitalet was in charge of opening and closing the presentation, which was attended by all the institutions involved in this project: Biopol’H, the City Council of L’Hospitalet, AEBALL (Business Association of L'Hospitalet and Baix Llobregat), CCOO and UGT.
The press conference, headed by Núria Marín, had the participation of Alfonso Bonals (Deputy Mayor of L'Hospitalet), Angel Crespo (CCOO General Secretary in Barcelona), Joan Barrachina (UGT General Secretary in L’Hospitalet), Manuel Rosillo (president of AEBALL) and Ramon Lopez (director of the Consortium Biopol'H). The event ended with a tour of the entities around the Hypobaric Chamber and the Barcino Project, which are in the Biopol’H Bioincubator I.
This initiative reasserts the role of BiopoL'H as economic driving force and reference in the field of biomedicine.
The project BIOPOL'H – TRANSFORMS AND PROVIDES EMPLOYMENT
This project is led by the City of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat and counts on the participation of the Consortium Biopol’H as well as socioeconomic agents such as AEBALL, UGT and CCOO. The project aims to create the context and support systems that might generate opportunities and promote the improvement of occupation, which is precisely what the implementation of a transforming project like BIOPOL’H means for the economy of L'Hospitalet and its metropolitan area.
The project BIOPOL'H – TRANSFORMS AND PROVIDES EMPLOYMENT is developed through three main actions - BIOPOL’H INNOVATION, BIOPOL’H INDUSTRY and BIOPOL’H GUIDANCE. It is sponsored by the Department of Enterprise and Labour of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the European Social Fund.
The actions are based mainly on job creation in the field of biomedicine, the detection and training of new professionals, the improvement of workers’ training as well as the creation and attraction of new economic and research activities in the biomedical field.
The scientific production in the Biopol'H environment is the second of Catalonia in quantity and quality but its result in business initiatives is still very small. Knowledge transfer between universities and the market is the key of the new production model. Hence the necessity of this project: give confidence, knowledge, support and encouragement to professionals with innovative ideas to move them into the market.
Therefore, BIOPOL'H – TRANSFORMS AND PROVIDES EMPLOYMENT acts to improve the abilities and skills of health staff, make the transition from research to business innovation easier, establish frameworks for collaboration with other biomedical clusters and so generate synergies.
