Biopol’H gets 3 million euro in grants and loans

14/12/2010

Consortium Biopol’H has achieved a total amount of 3 million euro for both the projects running in 2010 and those planned for 2011. The funds come from three different sources: the INNOVADORS Project - along with the city council of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat-, the INNPLANTA call and the INNOCAMPUS call, both coming from the Ministry of Science and Innovation.

INNOCAMPUS is integrated in the Excellence Campus call, led by the UB, and its main goal is to improve universities through the specialization, differentiation and internationalization of the Spanish university system. These incomes will be used to finance the acquisition costs of scientific or technical equipment, the costs of buildings and infrastructure for R&D, the outsourcing derived from the project exclusively and the generation and maintenance costs of the patents.

Moreover, the objectives of INNPLANTA are to facilitate the introduction or improvement of scientific and technological infrastructures bound for research and development activities for the organizations set in Science and Technology Parks as well as to support the acquisition of the scientific and technological equipment for these entities. This aid will be used to finance three projects: the executive project of ICT infrastructures in Biopol'H, the project to create a videoconferencing room and the draft, basic and executive project to build the Health Science Park of Biopol'H Seaside area. IDIBELL has also participated in INNPLANTA with two projects: "creating a new R&D lab to give continuity to the promotion of translational research" and "buying a computer to replace an obsolete cytometer". Applications, of which the total value made 1.1 million euro, have not been met.

Finally, the INNOVADORS Project is promoted by the Department of Labour of the Generalitat of Catalonia and by the European Social Fund. Consortium Biopol'H takes part in the INNOVADORS call with the project BIOPOL’H TRANSFORMS AND PROVIDES EMPLOYMENT, which is led by the Department of Economic Development of the city council of L'Hospitalet. This project consists of three major activities - BIOPOL’H INNOVATION, BIOPOL’H INDUSTRY and BIOPOL’H GUIDANCE - and aims to create the context and support systems that are to make the opportunities to improve occupation come true both in terms of quantity and quality, since this is what a project like Biopol’H means for the economy of the town.
