An inter-university group made up of professors from the University of Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Seville, coordinated by Professor José López López from the Faculty of Dentistry at the UB, has been awarded twice in recent months: at the IX Congress of the Spanish Society of Oral Surgery and the XI Congress of the Spanish Society of Oral Medicine, which was held together with the IX Meeting of the Ibero-American Academy of Oral Pathology and Medicine.
The group has been awarded for two papers on oral sclerosing osteomyelitis and the proposal for a computerized calculation of the mandibular indices.
In recent months, this working group has published many research articles in various fields of dentistry, some of them are: In the early diagnosis of oral cancer (Med Oral Patol Oral Cir Bucal, 2011); In the post-operative complications (Int Endod J, 2011); In the involvement of systemic diseases and oral pathology (Piel, 2011; Med Oral Patol Oral Cir Bucal, 2011; J Endod, 2011); In the preclinical research (Stomatologiia, 2011), or In the relationship between dental implants and cancer (Braz Dent J, 2011; Med Oral Patol Oral Cir Bucal, 2011).
The group of Professor López teaches along with the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Bellvitge University Hospital and different degrees at the University of Barcelona too, from which the most relevant are the Master in Medicine, Surgery and Oral Implantology and the Master in Dentistry in patients with cancer and a compromised immune system.
