On October 26 Bellvitge University Hospital was awarded by Top 20 as one of the best four reference hospitals in Spain. Last year Bellvitge Hospital also won the award in the same category. The hospital shared the prize with the Health Group of Sant Joan de Déu - Clínic Hospital, Son Dureta University Hospital and the University Hospital of Salamanca.
This is the fourth time that Bellvitge University Hospital gets the award in the eleven-year history of this prize (years 2004, 2006, 2009 and 2010), which represents once again an objective recognition for its good indicators in quality, performance and efficiency, the result of the effort of all the professionals working in it.
TOP 20 Hospitals is the only objective evaluation programme to assess the acute hospitals in Spain and IASIST is the company in charge of doing so. Its report is based on the objective indicators obtained from the official data recorded in the centres, which is a useful comparison for the continuing improvement of the health sector and its results.
165 centres were taking part in this edition, the highest number of participants so far. 134 were from the National Health System and 31, private hospitals. Participation is voluntary and free.
